Thornhaven Estates Winery
I thought I would never write this one! It has been a bit over two months when I started writing about my road trip to Kelowna (and around a month since my last entry on this serie). It was a long hiatus. A couple of the previous entries are here:
Road Trip to Kelowna - Highway 3
Road Trip to Kelowna - Downton Kelowna
Road Trip to Kelowna - Dirty Laundry Vineyard
So, now, the last entry, out of all the wineries I visited, the one I liked the most: Thornhaven Estates Winery. Why I liked it so much? Well, first pictures of the place:

Isn’t the view spectacular? There are some events in the patio show above but we were too early for that (we arrived way before noon - the events are around 4:00 p.m.).
How about the wine? Again, my favs are fruity white wines: Riesling and Gewürztraminer. I felt in love with the ones they produce; however, they produce a killer Sauvignon Blanc/Chardonnay. In fact, I brought a couple of these and gave it to a wine loving fan friend who does not like the buttery taste of chardonnay, yet she loved the one I gave her. They also had another wine, white wine for that matter, that went quite well with chocolate (Diosa, literally goddess). White wine and chocolate? Who would have thought that!
Overall, my visit to this place taught me something: Sometimes, it is not about the size of the winery (Mission Hill, Quails’ Gate, et al) but rather about the passion. Here, I was able to feel that. I wished we could stayed for longer but, alas, it was a tour so we had to go to the next winery. Still I left this place with a big smile and feeling happy. I will definitely have to come back here some other time…

Fantastic scenery, well captured. I will have to make a trip to the region next summer and take in a similar wine tour.
Hi shokutsu,
Thanks!
Remember, don’t drink/taste and drive! That’s why I took tours. In my case, the tour guide was Discover Okanagan Tours - http://www.discoverokanagantours.com/
